Outside of the gay community am I alone in liking this particular genre of music. Love listening to a bit of Sheryl Crow etc.

I have albums by Kate Bush, Catatonia, Shakesphere's Sister, Sheryl Crow, Basia etc. A good song is a good song.

These lucky ladies made it onto my ipod:
Nina Simone
Fontella Bass (with Cinematic Orchestra)
Georgia Anne Muldrow
Erykah Badu
Camille Dalmais (with Nouvelle Vague)
Sharon Jones
Ursula Rucker (with the Roots/4hero)
Tracey Thorn (with Tiefschwarz/Massive Attack)
Carina Andersson (with 4hero)
Not on ipod, but Minnie Riperton, Madeleine Peyroux & Alison Krauss are worth a mention.

My favourite recorded female vocal ever was something Clare Torry sang on in '73

Saw her at Glasto 2007

Mainly to get out of the rain.

Even being small and quite cute does in no way make power ballads acceptable.
