Just returned from a fabulous week of skiing in Thyon, and my wife and are looking to go out again before the end of the season.

It doesn't have to be Thyon, but as my wife is really a novice and I am getting my legs back after many years gap we fancy the same resort as we know the pistes and can concentrate on improving.

We drove (with another couple) last February and December, but in March we are thinking of flying and getting a transfer. Doesn't look like anything is flying into Sion from the UK due to fuel prices, so Geneva seems the likely airport.

The question; is hiring a car the only sensible way of doing it, or is there likely to be a good direct rail service to Sion, where we could either take a taxi/bus or hire a car?

We only returned home on Sunday and I am missing it terribly; trying to fill the time until the next trip by planning the excursion, buying boots, breaking them in on a dry slope... And asking silly questions on here!

From Sion, you can take a postal bus to Thyon (around 45' trip). Saves the cost of renting a car and if the weather conditions are poor, no problem on snowy roads!

Great. If timings of flights are right, even better. Thanks.
