Hi guys,

Wonder if any other young maserati fans can offer any advice.

With the current bargains currently available, im really interested in a 3200. I drove one last year and since then i fell in love....the only problem is that im only 22, and although i have 5years no claims, the cheapest insurance i can find is around 2500 which is just too expensive when i factor in the additional fuel and maintenance costs.

By chance is there any young owners who managed to get a better quote than myself.

Any help appreciated.
Stephen.

admiral (& elephant) have been pretty good for me but you might want to consider a broker.

might be possible to get insured as a classic/future classic. No no claims required (or earned), usually requires car to be kept in a proper garage and it not to be your only car.

by the way, if you are just trying to save money on the insurance fine but think carefully if you are stretching your budget to afford the car and associated costs. I bought a maser at your age (ok they have improved since then) and the car ended up stored in my garage as i couldnt afford a 3k bill to keep it running.

I've used Tesco since I brought my 3200 (but I'm not that young :-) and for previous cars. I still do the call around every year, after checking the forums for recomended specialist brokers / alternative vendors. Tesco (after discussion on the phone !) have always been able to match the best quote I can get elsewhere, and also did a fairly good deal this year on roadside recovery / assistance when I brought it at the same time (the 3200 is getting a bit old now...)

Lots of people will comment that you won't get the service / decent repair shops / support, and I'd agree it's true that the guy / lady on the end of the phone at Tesco won't know dick about a Maserati, but the one time I had to use them in the past on a previous car the service and quality of work done was great. They recognised it was a specialist vehicle and had the work done at an approriate repair shop.

Try Michael ward, they insure mine on a future classic basis with an agreed value and mileage(3k pa) fully comp for about £450. I'm older than you, garage it and use as a second car.
For the cost of a phone call it may be worth a try. 01707 266 303

Cheers for the advice guys.

The car would be garaged and it would also be my second car....(got a wee corolla and a ZX6R ninja i alternate as daily runners)

I'll keep phoning around and see if i can get the quote down, would really love the maser for spring.

Stephen.
