My Focus seems to have a strange problem in that after going around left handers il return the steering to the middle and itl pull to the right. when out for a spirited drive shall we say its been a bit dodgy a couple times as ive gone for a right hander and cut the corner alot with very little steering input. Its done this for a while now and I was hoping that the new suspension kit and drop links i had put on would fix this but its still there. Should also mention that the car accelerates and brakes totally straight so dosn't feel like an Escort with knackered lower arms

Ive had 4 wheel alignment done, checked the tightness of the bolts on the suspension and found that there's no free play anywhere. So I was hoping that someone else has had a similar experience so I can finally get this sorted.

Cheers.

This could be a faulty power steering rack, jack it up so both front wheels are off the floor and with the engine running, go to left lock and then straighten up the steering and see if the steering moves when you let go of the wheel.

Someone else on a Focus forum has just mentioned the rack so will take a good look at it on saturday. Looks like another large (to me) garage bill if it is.

The springs should be ok as its just had a new Koni suspension kit fitted, though it didnt have new top mounts as the labour getting seized bolts out made it to expensive.

Over the last few days ive noticed that if I pull into my parking space, up the kerb on near full right hand lock I get a knocking noise where as from the left theres nothing.

Knocking sounds like a CV joint. When you fitted the adjustable drop links were they fitted with the car on its wheels?

I always thought a duff CV joint is a constant knocking, this is only when I mount the kerb on near full lock. The drop links I put on were just normal ones and fitted with the car jacked up.

Edit: just been down the car park and did some circles at full lock accelerating and coasting and there was no knocking or clicking noises so id say the CV joint is ok.
