What to play tonight?

Ok folks, Mrs Arese is out tonight so I'll be allowed to whip the PS3 out and have a good gaming session.

What shall I play?

- Fallout 3 - brand new unopened
- Far Cry 2 - brand new unopened
- Need For Speed Undercover - brand new unopened
- Metal Gear Solid 4 - brand new unopened


- Pro Evo 2009 - usually play this, but fancy summat different
- Little Big Planet - played a bit, now a bit stuck but love it

Fallout 3.

Take Far Cry 2 and MGS4 back and exchange for Resistance 2. 60 player online is awesome.

I think MGS4 is excellent, perhaps one for when you've got some time on your hands though as you won't actually play anything for about half an hour until all the intro movies have finished, then you'll get about 5 minutes of action, then another 10 minute cut scene...

Far Cry 2 is alright, but quickly gets repetitive and will have you reaching for something else.

Need for Speed just looks disappointing, you can tell it was going to be bad just by looking at the adverts on TV, even they show off the terrible slow-down.

I'm with Tycho on putting Fallout 3 in first, be prepared to get thoroughly sucked in though and lose hours before you realise what has happened.

As Steve says, MGS4 is a good game but you'll need to have done the previous games or spend a lot of time reading up to have a scooby as to what is going on and some of the later cutscenes are 1/2 hour long.

I'll put MGS4 to one side until I've got more time. I've played all the previous ones and loved them, and I expect it will consume me for a while.

I'll have a go at Fallout 3 tonight. I like the idea of the turn-based combat, I was completely addicted to one of the Final Fantasy games many years ago.

You will be in for a shock then. There is no turn based combat in Fallout 3 as it's more of a first person shooter/RPG. It does however have what it calls V.A.T.S. which lets you pause the action and select a section/limb on the target to go for showing you your likeliness to hit said target and how much damage you are likely to do. The game is epic but starts off a bit slow and fiddly but once the speed has picked up a bit you'll be hooked.

Be prepared to die quite a lot at the beginning until you find a decent weapon, I was running round with a pistol that only seemed to fire BB pellets judging by the damage it did and a baseball bat for ages.

I ended up with a 12" Margherita with chicken and mushroom. Simple, but it did the job. Then my girlfriend came home with a free pizza, good lord!

Anyway, I spent about two hours playing Guitar Hero World Tour, much fun, then I stuck Fallout 3 on.

I like it a lot. I only had an hour or so on it, am yet to use VATS but I'm just exploring Megaton now. Moriarty, the landlord in the Saloon, is trying to rip me off for info on my Dad, has he no heart?! Will pick it up again at the weekend hopefully.
