sorry if this seems mundane, but just who the heck does wiper blades for mercs, apart from merc.

halfords don't stock them and it appears PIAA don't make them either frown

many thanks smile

Bosch do a wide variety (www.boschautoparts.co.uk), I thought they were available from Halfords? I bought my last set of Bosch blades from Costco, had to buy two different packs as the front blades on the car were different lengths, but it means you've got a spare set.

ETA. have just had a look through the site and apparently you can buy the packs that already have the two different blade lengths together, if required for your car. They even have a dealer locator on the Bosch website, I'm off to get a pair for myself!

It can be worth measuring the lengths of the old ones and checking that the Bosch replacements are as described on the carton

Spydie - a word of warning - being a tightwad - I bought the Halfords blades for the C class - they dont work very well. I am pretty certain they were Boshe and they are not very good. I will spend the cash and use Mercedes wipers next time - I get a discount if I buy from a Merc main dealer as my car is over 3 years old so it can actually be cheaper, certainly where oil is concerned for the diesel.

I just went to Merc for mine - they are those wacky flat things and are pretty long (2002 SL500). 33 quid inc vat, which I think is no more expensive than Halfords.

I've found this a lot with MB parts and the parts chap confirmed it when he said that often the parts prices were a myth and they were usually cheaper than aftermarket.

As to join their "club" where they discount all your spare parts if your car is over 3 years old. I think I get 10% off all I buy including the non stop synthetic oil my car guzzels.

Yes an old topic. But I have the one piece wipers front and rear on my estate. They are BRILL. There is absolutely no noise from them even on a completely dry windscreen. I got mine on ebay, the first one a year ago.

I put a Bosch wiper on mine (a '96 SL500) when I bought it (18 months ago) and I haven't been impressed, they don't seem to clear the whole sweep area and leave a patch around the wiper motor area due to poor contact. I also noticed that unless you get exactly the right length they can 'knock' on the black A pillar filler piece, not drastic but rather irritating.
I was looking at getting one of these..

Anyone tried these at all? Any good? Only £20 odd quid, might give it a go.

I did see that, wasn't sure which wiper manufacturer you were referring to, but good to hear a good report, thanks. I'll order some now and see how we go.
