Driving roads near me...any ideas anyone?

Hi guys,

I'm at university at the moment at the University of Glamorgan about 10miles north of cardiff. I have yet to find any good driving roads near here and was wondering if anyone on here knows of any? I know of some great roads in north wales...but i don't know much of south wales, so...anyone know of any?

Ok, try this for a route - Cardiff along the M4 to Chepstow, then the B4235 to Usk, B4598 to Abergavenny, then head towards Crickhowell on the A40 or the A4077, but get onto the B4558 near Crickhowell. Just before Llangynidr turn South onto the B4560 (possibly the best road in the Brecons) then after you hit the A465 make your way down one of the valleys home. Have a look on google maps.

A couple more good ones near you are:

- A4059 (off the A470 towards Hirwaun)
- B4519 (From Upper Chapel to Garth, just North of Brecon)
- Then from Garth, head west towards Llandovery and take the A4069 to Brynamman. It's a great road that often features in magazine tests!

Up the 470, along the Heads of the Valleys Road (which used to be entertaining, with the suicide lane dont know if it still is) off towards Ebbw Vale and down the otherside through Abertillery down towards Newport. Then you can have a nice trundle through North Cardiff to get back, St Mellons, Lisvane, Rhiwbina which puts you back on the 470.
