No but I'm in a similar position with a 2003 CL ... though minor corrosion on rear arches rather than front.

Suggest you take to your nearest dealer, who should get the ball rolling. If you don't have much luck then you should pursue further with MB UK.

How would you get on if you purchased the car from mercedes on its approved car warranty ? would that imply that all the inspections have been done ?

I have a couple of very small blisters on my rear hatch on the e55, I`ve had the car 8 months (ish) and had no paint work done on it. Its on the merc approved warranty could they say (as they supplied it) that they wont cover it ?

I recently noticed light rust on wheel arch of my 2002 slk32amg. I took the car to my main agent and he got out a gadget which measured the paint thickness, he told me there wasn't enough paint on the car and the work was done for free as factory goodwill. I had to produce service book and log book as proof of ownwership. Also recall work was carried out again for free. I am delighted with the service.

All sounds good to me The car in question has a full MB history and although 2 owners and an import was sold by a main dealer 2 years ago. It has been inspected and photographed and I am now waiting for MB to make a judgment. I guess its in the dealers interest to make the claim under warranty as I am sure they could do with the work!

I had my '02 C240 estate into my main dealer for the anti-corrosion warranty for door bottoms and a new front wing under warranty!

It's worth perservering and pestering them to get it done.

The weak models are teh C class and S class from 2000 onwards.

My car DID have full Mercedes history though, so this could have some bearing on their decision to carry the work out.

Hope this helps.

Mine is with the bodyshop now and having both front wings done and a further claim for a rear wheelarch they must have wanted the work as they gave me a loan car (Skoda Roomster)
Lets see what sort of job they make

Doesnt need annunal body inspections but it needs to have been at a dealer in the last 2 years , my car has had 5 services in almost 8 years (well within schedule) and had extensive bodywork done by MB under warranty/goodwill
