Received a letter today from the council telling me I had been credited £62 because I had over paid a council tax bill in 1993/94!

I called my ex wife to say I would be popping round with £31 (her house was in joint names back then) and she said she had had £1000 back and my payment was as a result of her questioning the council tax banding on the house! Seems it had nee wrongly banded all those years! Nice one!

I have asked the council for the interest on the £62 as they have effectively had my money for 15 years… my Ex says she will wait until she sees how I get on before she tries the same thing on the £1000!

Will they pay me interest?

So you give her 31 notes, and she was (has!) kept the 500?

No guys, we split in 1994…. The house was hers after that. She never thought about the fact that there was a year missing off the rebate. we had the letters on the same day...

She is as honest as the day is long, she even once gave me £2000 from a policy we had which she had kept paying…. I didn’t even know we had it….

She was a good one, it was a very amicable split and we are still good friends…
