What should I have done?

I was coming home today and drove past a bloke on the road where I live who had collapsed. I pulled in and rang 999. Along with 3 other people, I stayed with him until the ambulance arrived however having read some threads on here lately I am wondering whether I did the right thing by phoning for an ambulance or whether I should have posted on PH for advice first

In this day and age with all the high tec phones we have i'm a little dissapointed you didn't do both at the same time lol!!!

Did you have a mobile-internet capability at the time ?!

If not, then ringing 999 straight off is the second best thing.

....posting on PH as soon as afterwards is a good move

You have to think of your thread title.

Calling 999 allows you post something like "Saw a man collapse today" or "I stopped to help someone and..."

However, going for the post first approach allows something like "I watched someone die today", which I think you'll agree has far more impact.

Hopefully you'll learn from your mistakes in the future.

I think that in order to save NHS funding, 999 diverts to Pie & Piston anyway, out of hours at least.
