Is it me, or has it gone rather quiet on this Forum?

KCM is rather conspicuous by his absence!

Is there a 5exi update yet?!

As a distant observer, I'm looking forward to it!

(I will be looking at it closely again though at Exeter.....)

It's very quiet on that front too.

Have looked into how to save some money on their price list. Not a lot at the mo.
I have been quoted £150 inc vat for shot blasting, zinc coat and powder coat of chassis (as opposed to £300 +vat).
They quote £312 +vat for shocks. I believe these are GAZ. GAZ are advertising shocks for £250 inc vat + carriage.
I make that a saving of £319.10. That should pay for seats and steering wheel!

Yes I am tight fisted! Well I need to keep it as affordable as poss.

Still looking for a donor. Biggest problem is how far I have to travel to get one. I am trying to find a suitable Rover 200/25 (1.6) within 200 miles. That's basically - Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and the south of Avon. Again budget is around £6-700, which I'm told will be no problem . . .

Apart from (as you mentioned a while back) the lower salaries, that is probably the only downside of living where you live (I'm still jealous!)

Donor cars for kit projects are ten a penny round here.... Anyone building a Sierra or Granada based kit... a garage that is walking distance from me has an E reg Sierra 2.0GL for £60, and a Granada 2.9i Ghia for £110!!!

Have you tried Ebay for donors? Usually loads of old Sierras knocking about, may be a similar story for a suitable Rover?

Been there. . . keep looking at salvage auctions and breakers yards at the mo.

Aylesbury autosalvage, Universal, RAW2K are the ones I look on daily.

Distance is the biggest problem with those too.

BTW. the forums not quite as quiet now.

Its a 416, not a 216.... don't know if it's any use to you Ex-B.....

here's the link

Ninth entry down, by "conibear"

Pretty recent too..... so if it's any use, it may still be available.

Thanks, but the car is too old. I don't think it's even a 'K' series, but the Honda unit they fitted to the old shape, hence:-

"I agree, great engine, car wasn't that bad despite being a rover... but being a honda engine it rotates the wrong way for a front engine rear drive set up... damn shame"

Gotta be new shape and whole car.
