TV picture ghosting
Discussion
Why do TVs still need the UHF aerial plugged in still?
Our TV is wired thus:
So, Scart leads between all the bits of equipment. However, the picture from the DVD player was awful, really grainy - bizarrely it was improved by using UHF leads going from the digibox to the DVD/video and then another one to the TV.
How can separate RGB signals give a poor quality signal that is improved by a rubbishy modulated signal?
Although the picture is sharper with the UHF stuff we get a lot of ghosting - I was watching something on the digibox earlier and could almost read the football results ghosting through from underneath!
So,
1) why the need to use the UHF leads when SCART is connected?
2) how can I stop the ghosting?
I used to use separate DVD player and video recorder - the combined thing is not as good but it records to DVD and is easier to wire up. It was impossible to record the video from the digibox before, there just weren't enough SCART inputs on the TV to see what you were doing!

Upgrade to modern equipment. Nowadays things are connected with hdmi and the digital signal means no ghosting at all. Scart leads are about 10 years out of date.
TV = Philips 28"ish widescreen CRT, about 6-7 yrs oldDVD recorder/vid = Toshiba, about 3 years old
Digibox = Sony, about 3 or 4 years old.
All the gear works OK and is good quality. It may not be cutting edge but why spend thousands just for stuff that will be out of date in 2 years? I've got other things I'd rather spend the money on!
They're not 500 quid solid platinum SCART leads but equally they're not freebie out-of-the-box ones either...
