Whats the issue with giving them FULL inderpendance? I.e. no financial support/self funding?

They seem to be pretty good at spending alot of UK money in a very small area?

I have no issue but the SNP want us to pay compensation and say its unfair for them to fund what was an English designed welfare state which if they were to self fund, couldn't afford.

I dont know, TBH. This time last year I thought we'd do pretty well with our oil, gas & banking industry. Now... uh... I'm less certain But I dont get why so many of the (English) opponents of Scottish Independance are the first to bleat about alleged disparities in public money distribution.

Now is probably not the best time, but I'd love to see what Scotland would do with independance. I think we'd have a collective "oh, st!" moment, but I think theres a fair chance that given the following sink/swim conditions, we'd just have to swallow hard & end up pretty good in about twenty/thirty years. There's more considerations that just the economic, too, of course. We'd be unlikely to be blowing billions on nuclear deterant and likely have a much more accountable government that would have a hard time supporting unpopular foreign wars for instance.

If they have independence they can reform they welfare state to something they can afford.

I think the most recent bridge across the Forth is the Forth road bridge which was completed in 1964.

Lets face it, if there WAS any chance of getting FULL independance, then it would be a great idea for him to push through any hugely expensive proposals BEFORE that happens so that 'them English bas' have to pay for the majority of it, then hey presto, you have a new bridge almost for free rather than having to actually pay for it.
