Living Situation

So...

I moved down to Essex from home (Cirencester) last March to start a job with Ford, and moved into a house about 20 mins from work. Enjoyed the commute (I work 7.30-3.45 so the roads are rarely busy), and bought my vRS back in July.

In September, I moved in with some mates literally around the corner from work - 10 min walk maximum, so now I only drive my car at weekends. The upsides to not having to drive to work are good, and it makes much more sense financially, but I really miss driving.

We all get along in the house (obviously there are a few issues, usually to do with cleaning, but it's rare), but I can't help thinking now that when my 12-month contract is up, I'd like to live somewhere a little further away so I can drive.

Am I mad???

Yes.

I would kill for the freedom to be able to not have to drive to work. Also handy when the car breaks down etc

If you like driving that much why not drive to work anyway and go for a cruise after work?

you're not totally mad, it's just that you like your car and you like driving
you're a PHer ('nuff said)

stay where you are if you get on with your house mates
drive to work on the days it's bloody cold

and walk on the nice sunny days - and on the days when you finish early (POETS day) and go straight to the pub !
(think of the money you save on petrol can get exchanged for beer tokens)

I work just around the corner from home on Mondays (but still drive due to the amount of stuff I need to carry). I find it much easier to work when I have driven further on other days. I need that time to sort my brain out and get my blood flowing, I function much better when I have had a drive to work!

Why not just drive for pleasure of an evening/weekend to get the use out of your car.....
