Both look very good, and with the new engine (plus the new diesel in the XF) things are surely looking (relatively) good for Jag.

I heard that sales for the X type and XF are currently up on last year

The XK front looks like the Arden Kit

225 mph, looks as if I've got to do a few more mods to mine now

this is from the link above

After 12 years and 600,000 units built of the previous V8, Jaguar has engineered a completely new motor, with just two parts carried over: the exhaust tappets and the cylinder head bolts.

Designed and developed in-house, the new Jaguar V8 arrives initially in 5.0-litre form in both supercharged (503bhp) and naturally aspirated (380bhp) forms. Despite the hike in size compared with the outgoing 4.2-litre V8, and the leaps in power and torque, the new engine does not use any more fuel.

As well as direct fuel injection and variable camshaft timing, the Jaguar XFR’s V8 is fitted with a new, sixth-generation supercharger. Company engineers say the unit is "much, much" more efficient than previous blowers.

It also helps deliver some 331lb ft of torque for the Jaguar XFR from below 1000rpm, before peaking at 461lb ft between 2000 and 5000rpm. Project engineers say that a key aim with the new Jaguar XFR was to provide better throttle response than in rival cars.

The engine drives an upgraded version of Jaguar’s well-established six-speed ZF auto 'box. As well as being able to handle more torque, the ‘box also ‘locks-up’ in second gear and above once the engine has reached 1000rpm. This helps remove the typical ‘slushy’ feel associated with auto 'boxes.

Anyone else not like the air scoops in the bumpers?

Looks a bit too much of "function over form" if you ask me (Which I wouldn't expect for Jag).

That looks great. Looking forward to the road test reports.
I can really see myself getting one of these at some point.
I like the air scoops at the front but wonder if the mesh grille would look better in black to match still keeping the chrome surround and badge?

Does it look like matt black may be a colour option or is it the lighting in some of the shots?

I really do like the lastest jag's the XF and XK, the new engines look great too, if i won the lottery tomorrow, i think i'd honestly take an XK over a Aston V8 vantage, hopefully once this credit crunch has passed i can pick up an older 4.2 supercharged XK for a price thats more affordable, but i do like the way jag is going now, rather then trying to outsell BMW, Merc, with 3 series rivals etc and instead focusing more on making fewer but more desirable cars, looking forward to seeing the rumoured roadster, and XF coupe

I think they've updated the 6 speed box (so it locks into each gear), so that it performs better as is.....does a car with this much torque and bhp really need a 7 speed box?

Also, am I right in assuming that they've dropped the 4.2 petrol completely now? Doesn't that leave quite a big gap from 3.0 litre to 5.0 litre? Didn't they used to have a 3.5 litre, which could provide a bit of a stop gap in the range? And make it feel a bit more complete?

With the new 3.0 diesel engine the only petrol engine worth having is going to be the 5.0.
I reckon Jaguar have got it right on this one.
The 2.7d and 4.2 V8 were good engines - I reckon the 3.0d and 5.0 will be great.
