Mrs asbo and I need a break somewhere. Sadly the Nordschleife is out.
Can anyone recommend somewhere relaxing and hot (optional but good weather is a must) for a week or so in February? Budget is about £1500-2000.
We had sort of settled on a cruise, but getting a balcony on something that's not a freight ship to China is uber expensive. Subsequently I refuse to play pass the soap with the cabin boys down by the engine room.
Anywhere in the world is a possibility with the exception of cheesey Spanish and Greek party Islands.

Princess are very good for adults and children, what ship is that one onboard?
I totally understand why you need to book early to get the adjoining cabins onboard, it really is a total lottery when leaving things until last minute, coupled with school holidays there's a very slim chance what you're looking for is still there and available.
Do you book direct with Princess?
Had quite a few people call me this week about going in easter holidays and are surprised that there is absolutely no flights at all!

do what we did last year, write a list of countries down that you would like to visit, pluck one from the hat, find cheapest air fare and then book hotel over the internet + hire car and your off. Was the best holiday i have ever had, went to Sicily, everything in for a week in october cost £250 a pop and fair dos the flights were pikey air, but we had a 3bed appt for the 2 of us.
Might be an idea if your not sure where you want to go?

Not that I mind old people, I'm just not hugely into sight seeing
instead of a cruise, look at something like bali and once you get over the flight prices roughly £600 per person including tax, then staying there is from £30 per villa per night, we stayed at Alam puri for £50 per night and was fantastic, scuba diving off Gili Air was a highlight.
Damn just notice you only need a week and not 2, if you can stretch to 2, then highly recommended.

but there were lots of good places and a week was not long enough, good mix of young and old!
Thought about Puglia - the south-easternmost part of Italy.
Its a bloody lovely area and you can fly Stanstead to Brindisi for peanuts.
Pick up a hire car and follow your nose.
Great driving roads and pretty towns and villages to mooch around.
Also decent food and wonderful Primitivo wine.
Beaches are beautiful - not sure about swimming in February, mind you.
Highlights- Brindisi, Ostuni, Galipoli, Lecce.
