Is it just me, or does management above you always seem to make the oddest decisions? We have just come into Aberdeen to get away from 10 metre seas out in the forties, and we have a load of cables to get off. Arrange what the Party chief wants, and lo, and behold, we do it in quick time, (as crew change is in a few days). So we have 88 of these bloody awkward cables in a tiny 20 foot container that have been manhandles from hydraulic winches, across the vessel, over the side, and across the dock, all by hand. Big, heavy, steel armoured cable as well, with big heavy bloody heads on as well... Anyway, I get up this morning to discover that the PC has changed his mind, and we have to take the entire lot back out of the container, spool it across the dock, and add bits that we had agreed we didn't need to. In effect we are doing the same job 3 times, as we have to move those cables another 2 times, (out and in), then break other cables to get the bits we need to add to this cable... Anyway, I cannot for the life of me fathom why the change? Why the desire to have us do back breaking work for no other reason than to do it differently than we did first time. It really annoys the fk out of me. From a 12 hour job, it's now extended to way past wednesday... Where the frig is the sense??

(Sorry if none of that makes sense, but it's too late to go out, and the kebab I just had was really gash.... Still, we are right alongside as near to Union street as we could possibly be!)

+1

However I understand your frustration as there's nothing more off-putting than a badly packed kebab

I was a croupier for 2 years... If you think I am stepping foot in a casino you are horribly mistaken. Last night we ended up at some church thing, with the most atrocious dj on the planet! Still, was amusing watching the drunkards there. We got there at about 1:00 am, (shift finishes at about 12;30, so a quick shower, etc). Grabbed a crap curry down by the cobbled square bit... Also found the male bogs in public amusing!

That sounds like it... Everywhere else was throwing out, so it was the first place that was open. It's just up the road from that weird halloween looking church conversion. hehe

Is the PC ex-forces ? Perhaps he wants to make good of time in the dock to get all the equipment in order to save time in the future, and keep you all active. Or perhaps he gets a thrill out of annoying his crew biggrin

No time to be saved at all... The cables are heading off to be troubleshot by the manufacturer... They don't work... Linking them together is nothing but an excercise in futility. They will have to take it all apart regardless, so why we are putting it together, rather than just put all the bits in the container is beyond me.
