Solicitors

I need a solicitor, before i continue, i'm sorry to dissapoint but im not in trouble

I have a problem regarding a car sale, car was miss described and even when i went to collect i couldnt get the keys or the V5.

Need to go to small claims court to recover my money etc, so i need a solicitor to go through things...

how do i go about it and how do you choose one?

I realise that, just wanted to know if it was worth persuing, hence the need to go through it with them

A good solicitor will charge you more to tell you than it costs to launch the claim, probably.

I might know someone who could help, but in all honesty you are best off DIY as the costs could outweigh the benefit with small claims.

I agree entirely.

Small claims litigation (anything where the claim is for less than £5,000) has a "no costs" rule - so even if you win, you won't get any legal costs you have incurred back from the other side. It's deliberately intended to try to dissuade parties from using solicitors.

It would be something of a pyrrhic victory to instruct solicitors, win at the small claims hearing and then find that you've paid out as much in costs to your own solicitor (if not more) as you actually recover.
