I've been listing the jobs to be done in the coming weeks and whilst the roof doesn't leak I think I'll have a go at re-proofing it so need some thoughts as to the best thing to do. The (black) colour isn't bad but no doubt would benefit from a little colour improvement and also on one panel the fabric is loose in the centre and balloons slightly (I've talked to trimmers re this to see if they could stick it down and they advise to leave it alone unless I want to risk having to replace the whole roof which isn't needed) but otherwise sits tightly except when damp so a bit of improvement there would be good as well and a good dose of proofing may help.
I've seen Renovo recommended but also its been said that it doesn't last too long and is also expensive - also seen the Autoglym kit recommended as better than Renovo on some sites and also cheaper so what is the best from the experience on here in terms of what I'd like to achieve?
Richard (greymr) is local to me and did his last year with Renovov so I'll slip over and have a look - also and are there any problems applying either of the stuff, etc?

Hi Jim, I used Renevo on both my S's with good effect. One had a near perfect roof to begin with but it still made it look closer to new. The other was alittle faded and the Renevo brought it back nicely.

I'm not much use with anything more practical than a pen, so if I got good effect then the average chimp can hehe

I did use 2 coats on my V8S and 3 on my S2 from the same kit. The S2 was the slightly faded one, but I made a mistake with the first coat. It was a warm day and it dried quickly which left a bit of a line like a water mark. This was not so easy to blend in really.

Neither let in water anyway, so I can't comment on how waterproof it is.

I have used the Autoglym on a couple of cars and always been pleased with the results. The cleaner and sponge supplied brings the hood up well and the waterproofer is very easy to apply and does what it says on the tin. You could easily do the TVR hood 3 or 4 times with one kit.

Used the Renovo with a good result BUT dont stop half way through. The seperation of the back section and the two panels helps however

Thanks for the info folks. Did you find the Autoglym brought the colour back Tony? Mine isn't bad at all but a little darkening wouldn't go amiss.

Has anybody used 303 aerospace fabric guard?
It gets good reviews on the detailing forums though not used it myself.

The autoglym does seem to freshen the hood up a bit. The cleaner does a good job and the hood looks a bit darker and newer when finished.

I used Autoglym on mine and it did darken the hood. I found it very good - cleaner worked well with a soft brush too.

Thanks folks - after the earlier posts I did the roof with Autoglym some weeks ago and it came up nicely as reported; the only slight thing to note is it took some doing to rinse it as the cleaner foams so much when you try and remove it but no big issue - it just took a bit longer.

That's the stuff that I use. These pics were the day after treatment a few years back. No idea how long that effect lasts for, but I've never had a leaking problem. Just need the weather to be nice one day so that I can give it a go for this year.

Have finally got round to using the 303 myself and it is very good - £26 inc post i think. Went on easily and is meant to last 3 years, time will tell!
