wortec appoint new dealer - Sewards in Branksome, Poole
Discussion
"Wortec" are pleased to announce the addition of "Sewards" Vauxhall ( Branksome, Poole, Dorset ) to our dealer network..........
We have been working with the aftersales and service managers for the last few months on various projects and have been very impressed with their enthusiasm and commitment to customer service.
As with all large dealerships the key to good service is having the right people to talk to and we are happy that Sewards have this in the form of Dave Saddington (customer services manager) and Gary Neave (service manager) both of which are true petrolheads, enjoying pastimes with bikes and kart racing.
The mechanics have proved excellent with an attention to detail our customers expect from a "wortec" VXR8 and Monaro dealer.
Head Tech Darren Harris has a list of accolades for his workmanship which is very extensive, but again he is a petrolhead and understands what a V8 should go and sound like.
The guys have installed various "wortec" upgrades on Monaro and VXR8 and this week sees the finish of their first Supercharger install.
Give the guys a ring for servicing, upgrades and sales at..............

always open to contact from dealers.
But for now let all Monaro/VXR8 owners be happy that Sewards are with us

Your telling me, we could do with a decent one around here....local "approved" dealer is next to useless, have to travel to Picador............
arent enough Scots with them to make it worthwhile I suspect, we are few and far between up here. I use Peter's Car Company in Motherwell for general servicing, not official dealers but excellent to deal with. Believe Arnold Clark in London Road, Glasgow and Belmont Aberdeen are only "Monaro" dealers now - neither of which I'd let anywhere near my car. Afraid its the long drive south (300miles+) for us to reach either Monkfish or RapidGB. Have got a couple of addresses of garages up here with good V8 experience that came recommended for other pistonhead members but havent tried them out myself.
Hi vxr8edz,
Paul and the Wortec people are custom Monaro mods tuners and designers/manufactures. They already have a select number of outlets for their kits, such as Monkfish etc which are proven to be talented people and generally upto the job of doing the mods and not messing stuff up. For example I drive down to Monkfish in Milton Keynes for my Wortec stuff and I live near Manchester (some drive much further) !
I suspect dealers get adventurous enough with the cars and get request for custom parts, so they approach Wortec and ask if they can be authorised fitters. Paul then inspects and allows or denies I guess.
I guess Paul & Wortec are just protecting their name and products to be installed upto a very high standard rather than becoming a box shifter. I for one don't like ordering parts and getting them fitted by people whom have never seen the product before and then find a problem or issue - just too much agro.
Cheers
Steven

I accept the point you are making and agree. But may be a little add in the trade press for wortec dealer required in Kent area may throw up a few. I have wortec parts and mods on my car purchased in "Kent" now no dealer in Kent. On a softer note would you buy a TV near home then find out you have to then travel 100 miles plus to get it serviced & repaired. If I had known at point of purchase that for future service I would have to travel this distance for service it may have pushed me to other options.

Why not make a day of it if we can help.
With a bit of notice c.car could be arranged.
Pick up a stick of rock as a momento.Dave.

Thanks for the offer, but, Monkfish a little bit closer for Kent and have lots of toys to play with, so Im told. Unless you do a collection and delivery service that is ?

It is indeed a shame that we no longer have a dealer in Kent. Especially as they were a big part of the Monaro/R8 world...........
When it became obvious that they were going down hill we looked around for a replacement. Our first option was in East Sussex
from a dealer who contacted us, they looked a good option but as time went on their business plan changed and we did not sign them up.
As lots of you have found finding a dealer just to service your car is a problem and from our point of view we need quality outlets to supply the
quality our customers expect......also we need a reasonable amount of work going through the dealer to make the investment in them cost effective.
The other thing we need to factor in is the distance we need to travel, as we tune all the cars we need to drive to the dealer and this is included
in the fixed price.....so a dealer much above Leeds is a big problem.
Given time we will find new dealers but right now most outlets are working on staying in business...........

Not an unreasonable position to take if you insist on carrying out the tuning yourselves. The only viable option then would be to work with someone closely enough and with the right expertise on the LS series engines that you would be willing to appoint them as an agent to cover the dealership(s) in the north of England/Scotland. They would then be responsible for uploading your base tunes and then carrying out any tweaking for individual cars. Whether you could find someone with the right skills and whether it would be financially viable are different matters altogether. Simple fact of life for us northern owners is you have 4 options - (1) do it yourself (2) find a local garage with decent mechanics (3)pay travel and accomodation and head down south (4) do all of the above as required - option I've used.
The penalty for us though with option (3) is that it adds a fair bit to the cost of any mods. For example say I wanted to get Monkfish/RapidGB to fit headers for me - around 1200-1400 iirc supplied and fitted. On top of that I'd have around 750 mile round trip and probably an overnight stay. So 2-3 tanks of fuel and say 80 quid for bed and meals in a travel lodge - roughly 200-250 quid or thereabouts. Thats the equivalent of around 16% price hike on the supply and fitting never mind the tedium of a 750 round trip along the M74/M6 etc and using a couple of days of annual leave. So either you save up lots of pennies and get lots of work done all in one go to reduce the travel/accomodation/wasted holidays or you work with options (1) and (2).
Thats why so many northern owners keep hoping we'll eventually get some kind of dealer up here that can supply and fit most of the upgrades available be it from RapidGB or from Wortec or whoever. Someone within 150-200 miles could half the fuel bill and do away with the overnight stay bringing the costs more into line with the average owner in the south. I still doubt there's enough of a market to make it worthwhile though for any investment in setting up.
Fair play to Monkfish, they've started selling a lot more spares on ebay, makes them easier to obtain when it comes time to get car serviced locally. Should be cheaper than getting them through the local Vauxhall specialist dealer - and I use that word "specialist" cautiously.

Ive got some nice warranty work for you nice chaps.
I have taken my car in 4 times to get a known fault with the indicators sorted, but they still arnt fixed.
Basically after 3 initial blinks, they go double speed like a bulb has gone.
I have the Holden technote for this.
If you guys can sort it out, Ill be down there in a shot. Let me know and Ill PM you the technote to study up and then arrange a visit
If all goes well I know there are a few other blokes with the same issues who would be right behind.

Your lower cost of living, quieter roads and Whisky make up for all the costs or inconvenience though!

Some of your comments are a little double standard. You want us to travel 100,s of miles for wortec service "yet qoute that you can not travel large distances"When it became obvious that they were going down hill we looked around for a replacement. Our first option was in East Sussex

I think you have been selective in your quote..
I said if we appointed a dealer above Leeds we could not maintain our fixed prices on tuning as the cost of travel would need to go up (we are based on the south coast).
You are in an area that we can cover and did up until the demise of Greens as a wortec dealer....
Until we find a dealer of the standard we require in your area you have the option to use any of our other dealers.
If you have a recomendation for a dealer in Kent please let us know.
