Heating Oil , check your level NOW

I just had a check on our oil usage over this cold spell..............

Seems we have been burning nearly 300 litres a week over the holiday period , fortunately we have a big 2400 litre tank , now only 1/4 full , was full on 1st December .

Phoned for a top up and delivery is out to 3 to 4 weeks at the moment due to demand and cheap prices so get it ordered now guys.

Was just quoted 30.9p ,I never thought i would get excited about the price of heating oil

£556 worth of oil in just over a month??!! So glad i didn't buy the house without gas. Or have i cocked up my sums??

Does sound excessive. Sister and family live in a 4 bed detached with oil-fired CH and they complain about a total Winter bill of around £500 for the quarter - and they have their house excessively hot!

Unforunately thats about right , except the last lot was 36p a litre

We have a pretty big house and both work from home , it has been on 24 / 7 for the last month

someone i know very well does over £1k pcm in the winter in heating oil alone.

Granted their house isn't exactly 4 bed new build size but it isn't that vast.

Not that warn either.

Reminds me why I never consider buying listed buildings with leaded windows!

Bugger me. Do you have a hole in your tank? My parents use about a third of that and that includes my dad running his humongous space heater to warm up his big shed.

We have only had one tank this year so around 1650 litres in 12 months and we have a large 5 bed detached , you must be heating a stately home/have a dodgy boiler/or someones nicking it
