Hi DragHeads !

Just found this on the "King of Europe" website :

King of Europe the drag series

The King of Europe title is one of the most prestigious titles in European street racing
and street racers have travelled many miles for the title over the last four years.

Rounds have been hosted at Belgium, Poland and Hungary
but for 2009 the "King Of Europe West" will be in the UK
at the quickest track in Europe, Santa Pod Raceway.

The "King of Europe West " takes place on the 9th & 10th of May
as part of The PTM Show.
This event will see the quickest and fastest runs
with many personal bests in the King of Europes history.
The team at Santa Pod Raceway have made Lee Child and
King Of Europe boss Mike Procureur very welcome.
It will be a great event in Great Britain. Who will take the crown ?

East will be also another new place for this 5th year anniversary of
King of Europe, the Kiskunlacháza Airport near Budapest
will host the King of Europe East on 5th & 6th September
as well as the superfinal "King of West vs King of East".

Dragracing enthousiasts in Hungary and in whole Eastern Europe
are growing fast year after year.
We are all waiting to see if the crown will go back home West
or stay East in 2009…

More details will follow shortly at
http://www.kingofeurope.net

http://www.santapod.com
http://www.dragracing.hu

This will attract some great machinery to their (mostly) first-time travel to Santa Pod,
in the previous years I have seen "semi-Pro-Mods" with number plates
from various european countries,
that were down to the 8s on "not sooo good" tracks.
FWD, RWD, AWD, turbos galore, etc etc.
Not to mention the brit guys that can run on their "home turf"...biggrin
Does anyone know if there will be full track prep for the PTM event ?
Regards,
Benni

Hi Benni,

It should be pretty good as we are also running in the HKS Series at the same meet & it's all been held on 1 day rather than 2.
Since the times for the jap cars have been dropping fairly quickly over the last couple of years (ie/ 10's in 05 to 7's in 08) the prep has improved accordingly & was pretty good in 08.

Cheers
John

The KoE organisers will need to be more switched on at Santa Pod than they were at the event in Belgium last year then; it took the best part of two days to get through the qualifying and eliminations and that was without any other activity going on at the track.

Hello Ray ,

I was not at KOE for the last years due to other dates,
the first year at Chimay it was also like this, could have been faster.
It seems that the organziers are OK when it comes to organizing the event,
but running the actual race is another thing IMO ,
they did it only once/twice a year, always on different locations with different local crews.
I hope that the running of event (pitting, establishing running order,
calling for rounds, pairing)is done by the SPR crew,
that should ensure a fluent running of the race.
Regards,
Benni

There will be no concerns at all, it will be quick and slick, provisional running order was done last week by myself and will be released soon.

Hi again !

Slight Hijack of thread :

Does anyone know the time schedule/running order for the PTM Show ?
What is happening on Friday, just pitting or test runs ?
I am thinking about "Sealion reloaded", a quick raid on your island....biggrin

Not only for the KOE cars & races (I know some of the teams),
but also to see a round of the HKS series and other cars/classes
that do not run on the FIA events.

Following the "85psi" text in Tog´s recent report,
I had a good look on the pictures of James Rumsey´s "EVO 8",
and, just.....yikes.....WOW.
I guess he will be there, too, spooling up his dragmonster ?

Regards,
Benni

Don´t talk about the war? PAH, don´t talk about football...8-)

Hi DragHeads !

I still am planning to come over for the PTM Date,
but my "Oh Yeah, let´s do it!" buddies have let me down for one or the other reason,
so it will be just me traveling then.
Which means I would book a Hertz car on my own for 3 days,
another 130€ lost from my not-so-big budget.
I also looked at taxi/minbus fares, but that would be around 200€...yikes
Is there anyone in here that could pick me up at Stansted Airport on Friday (10:40AM),
and drop me off there after the event on Sunday evening (flight departs 20:40) ?
Regards,
Benni

Possibly. Or at least in part, most of the people on this forum don't tend to go to the lifestyle events like the PTM show (although that is starting to change).
