290 diesel estate 1997 powerloss

Help, I need some goood advice. My 300 000 Miles diesel estate (no big problems so far) suddenly would loose power. Not always but sometimes. After a long search and the Merc garage suggesting to change first the catalist, then the small air pipes then the turbo the airflow sensor etc, I found that the switch controlling the headlights was leaking air (a lot).Fixing that gave me the power back, car running just fine for about 200M. Now the same problem reappears and I don't know where to look next any suggetions out there?

If the car has a MAF then I'd suspect the MAF

Other than that I'd try one of the two Mercedes Forums for people who know the new cars. I only know the antiques
