I have been to Hamilton Island, I don't think Paradise Bay existed in some 20 years ago when I was there. Hayman and Himilton Island were the only ones developed. The Whitsundays are lovely.

We anchored offshore there for a night when I was learning to dive on the reef for a week. I don't think you can really go wrong out there thumbup

Tonker

I went to the Whitsundays and Hamilton Island in May last year and having just read your links all I can say is do it, the whole region is beautiful, one of the best places I've ever been.

Tonker,

Not been to the resort you've chosen but did do a sailing trip around the whole area from Airlie Beach.

Once your out at sea around there its simply stunning.

I dived with dolphins swimming around, flying fish joined us as we ate dinner one evening, saw turtles. It was simply gorgeous.

Oh and while you're there make sure to visit Whitehaven Beach. Regulalry listed as one of the best beaches in the world. It is sometimes a bit busy due to plenty of boats visitng but we got there while it was quiet. The beach and sand / sea is just amazing. We had rays swimming around our knees as we paddled just off shore!

I say go for it!

Don't go to Hayman Island. It is massively hyped in Australia, but stupendously overpriced and simply inadequate in all ways compares with good places in the Maldives, Mauritius, Bali etc.

The Whitsundays are beautiful.

Been there, done that. Quite pleasant and easy to hop off to the reef for a snorkel.

We preferred this, though

especially the ride back by speedboat / BN Islander

Happy days!

I did the Whitsundays about 4 years ago - highly recommended. Did a 5 day racing yacht tour out of Airlie Beach, stopping at various islands (can't remember which now), snorkelling and sunbathing - plus mucking about on a fappin great big yacht.

The pictures just don't do them justice...
