I recently bought a Tom Tom 520 and have had nothing with problems... the directions/sound sometimes just stops working, and if i use the hands free option (which I think is casuing all the problmes) the sounds distorts like mad... it really getting on my nerves as I mainly bought it for the bluetooth hands free option..

can you get it to play the phone call throught the car speakers? it looks like only music can be directed to FM??

Help... this is driving me mad

I bought mine, partly to use the bluetooth option and soon after installed a Parrot 3100. The BT on the Tom Tom is about as much use as a chimney on a dog.

The FM thing is OK for music but doesn't work with BT. It will work for nav announcements but if it's not announcing then you have silence.

Nav is great but then I guess a "One" would be as well.

Do you keep the charger on when you are using it? I have found the sound distorts like this just before the the battery runs out - ie low power. Charge it up again, and it gets better. Could that be it?

Its nearly always on charge... the battery does not last that long.. Sorry no I don't think that is the problem.

Scott,

The Parrot is an excellent piece of kit. The 3100 has a little screen which details incoming caller ID. It'll work with up to 5 phones and downloads your address book everytime you connect. Don't worry, it only takes seconds. It works through the car speakers so sound is fine and it mutes your radio when calls are made.

The only issue I had when fitting to a Disco 2 with Harmon Cardon ICE was it needed an extra cable to make it work with the amplified speakers. The standard cable made the sound way too loud. Once that was rectified everthing has been perfect.

Sound quality on my TomTom speaker for bluetooth calls is terrible - sometimes barely audible over the normal car noise. Also find that if I don't use the external mic the caller can't hear me...

Wonderful USP that doesn't work!
