Thats it i've done it!

Time to say bye bye to the chimarea (hope I've done the right thing)

I pick up the Cerbera this evening. A 130 mile drive back is a start to get me used to it.

Took it for a drive yesterday and the difference between that and a chimaera is fantastic Its a 1997 4.2 cooper green with magnolia looks mint. I've also mangaed to get a warranty for £445 to cover claims up to vlaue of the vehicle, lets hope I don't have to use it.

So thanks for the help and no doubt I'll be picking your brains in the near future.

i did the same 8 weeks ago. great car but so far I've had 4 rides on the back of a recovery vehicle. Hoping that this is just beginers luck and that the bad times are over. On a positive note, I can't believe how far removed from the Chim it is, handles in a different league altogether and the power delivery is awesome, just hope that I can hang onto the licence!

So Brian - why the low loader rides?

Sorry I haven't posted but this is the first time I have been home since picking it up, I thought it was quick when driving home but then I noticed I had another 3 - 4 thousand revs left to use up, but when I revved it up to 6,000 well that just scared the out of me. I can see Its going to take some time to get used to it.

Also went to start it up this morning and it sounded like a bag of spanners at first then calmed down is this normal?

Gary J.. the warranty is with Private warranties and it covers up to value of car per claim ex wear and tear. (but we'll see when I need to make a claim)

Anyway I can't get over the difference between this and my old Chim, Is this the real world Morpheus...

i think 'bag of nails' and 'sounds like a diesel' expressions are fairly common, (well i hope so as mines the same!!)...but is ok once normal engine temp is reached. There was recently a thread talking about oil pressure springs/switches, and i got the impression that the originator noted that operating temp was acheived quicker and engine noise was greatly reduced when he'd changed the pressure spring in the oil pressure switch.Think that this is something im changing very soon!

first time Gary was when the car was over revving and it had to get back to the dealer, 2nd time was when the dealer had to collect again for the same fault, 3rd time was when he returned it to me and the 4th time was when a heater hose rubbed against an engine mounting resulting in loss of coolant. This was in 38c in Portugal, scary but now repaired. Trouble is the car is only nine months old and had done less that 3000 miles when I bought it 8 weeks ago. Must say that the heater hose problem could be serious for all owners, this really should have been routed differently and as the car is hardly a new design I suspect that many others must have suffered the same?

Sadly you will get used to it though. You will crave more.

After 2 years my cerbie felt pedestrian and I had to get something else. Ridiculous I know, but be warned it is very addictive.
