According to this forum: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthre...

The gorgeous Mclaren F1 which was for sale at Autosport is only £1,000,000? I say only, as I'm going by the recent Park Lane F1 sale. Can anyone shed any light on this? With it being a race version too, I would have thought this figure is incorrect.

This has been for sale for as long as I can remember, and I don't believe it is road registered, despite it often wearing a reg plate.

£1m would not have bought you a road car even before the RM sale. Even if you take the view that the RM sale car was unique even for an F1 (basically an unused car), market prices for these wereonly helped by the sale. I'd been talking to a seller about an F1 at a value some way above £1m prior to the sale, but not surprisingly the price went up after it and nothing has progressed since.

That is the ugliest F1 I've ever seen and AFAIK it isn't road legal. Has been seen on CIA 4 plate or something like that in the past I think.

Is this the former Parabolica car which Gary Ayles campaigned in British GT? Saw the car at Oulton Park and Donington for the FIA round that year. I think it actually looks nice in the papaya orange of the old McLaren days. I'm surprised this hasn't been snapped up, especially with the GT90s series to race in.

Few years ago ex-race cars were going for well under 600k.

How times change.

I took loads of photo's of #013 whilst it was for sale at Carrs in Exeter too smile. The staff there let me and a friend look over the car, opened everything up and took photos of all the nooks and cranny's. It was up for £1.3m, but I believe didn't sell to a customer but it was later up for sale at AutoSalonSingen in Germany

I recall you talking about trying to get an F1 about a year ago (I think a syndicate type affair IIRC).

Come on my good man, we need a "DeltaHedge, Is this your Mclaren thread!"

hehe

Haha, as if I could ever attain Flemke status!! Your memory is almost perfect, though there was no syndicate involved (sadly for my bank balance), and was dealing with McLaren on it for some time. I was pretty close to getting to the right price for both sides I think....until the pesky auction came and ruined it for me....!

One day it'll happen - its the car I lust after above all others - but prob not quite yet because with exchange rates as they are because any car with global appeal is making its way pretty quickly across the Atlantic/Channel etc etc.

Yes it was exhibited at the Cartier Style et Luxe at the Goodwood FOS a few years ago.

Cant say I'm a big fan of all the styling. Give me an LM anyday.

Ah, maybe I remembered it wrong re: the syndicate comment, maybe it was Mclaren you mentioned in negotiations etc.

I'd be happy to join a syndicate with you on your future purchase, in a non-financial, administrative kind of way. I'd be willing to pay for the postage on the V5 to the DVLA. hehe

Did you not fancy the DK car that was around, (Mr Bridgers I think?) or is that destined for stateside as well?

Not spoken to DK about Mr B's car. I want a standard never modified road car, so as superb as that one is its not the one for me. Post RM I expect it to take a little time for the froth to come off the market and perception that they're all worth that.

Then again, what do I know...maybe they won't and I'll lose the bet on value. If only my crystal ball was as good as my hindsight.
