My Old FG Monster Truck

Brought this on a whim after another whim(genesis .46 nitro truck) turned out to be too much hassle, glow plugs this...special fuel that.....I wanted out of my office start and play fun - found the FG for £600 and away I went, ended up costing me well inexcess of a grand after repairing the crashes - then I realised i should of started out my RC career with a bettery driven vehicle maybe I'm now looking at a 26cc 6ft long RC Boat as less to hit on the river by me

Just wanna know if anyone else has had one of these and what were your experiences??

Wow, they're 1:5, right? Too rich for me I'm afraid, though I'm impressed with the amount of real car tech in them, like the calipers and the diffs and stuff.

i have a technokit 1:5 that i have been working on for 2 years. never run it.

I have been machining all the plastic parts into metal ones with the help of a mate who likes that kinda thing.

I like the look of the engineering work that's been done - one thing to remember....
From Painful experience, with your gear ratios - keep the biggest one plastic and the small one steel, this way if the truck jumps and you keep the throttle open by mistake when you land, the small gear will only strip the plastic cogs - if both are steel then the next week part is the engine block/seals and that can easily be both fatal and expensive, at least if you only strip the plastic drive cog then £15 and your back and running - engines are over £180 easily

Totally admire the commitment to working on it for two years - make sure you have good brakes and an open field to test run in A Failsafe is another must have

Funny time was when the truck took out & the failsafe had been plugged on the wrong way so instead of applying brakes - it opened the throttle fully and the truck took off at 55mph(I know this as I was chasing the bl##dy thing on a quad) Luckily a 100 year old aok tree slowed it down slightly for me and took apart the front offside suspension...ouch!

Still when they're running they're fantstic fun...and despite what people say the police didn't seem to mind when I took mine over the local park one time, it runs a football pitch in about 30secs max. make sure you have good range on the controller - I was enjoying flying about when a police riot van turned up and 4 got out - I thought it may of been a public noise menace as they can be loud - but they thought it was a trials bike and when seeing the 75cm long truck doing drifts on the damp grass they just asked questions and watched for 10mins - then said 'have a nice day' and left me to it - result!!

The details is really good and the engineering is quite amazing. You understand why they retail at the prices that they do. here is some of the tree damage I mentioned - but it does show the mechanics off quite well.

I haven't got massive feet size 9 but gives an idea of the size of these things
