Razor recommendation

Having been working for the last zillion hours reminds me that I need some new blades for my razor. But.. thinking.. maybe time for a change. I dont do leccy shavers, am a blade man. Owned a Mach3 for the last couple of years (bought it & a mega pack of blades from Costco which is finally running out). Would rather not pay more ££ for blades - saw some swanky razor in a shop last week & blades were £10 for 4 - no ta. But, for example, I recall hearing ont radio a while back some small BRitish firm that had produce a decent razor to take on the big boys. Rambling.

Any recommendations?

Get a decent single-blade safety razor. More care required when shaving, but personally I've never had closer shaves and the blades are pennies compared to buying Mach 3 'cartridges' and the like.

So...whats the average blood loss when shaving with this type of razor having used Mach 3 et al for ages? Do you have to learn to shave all over again?

Same here, although I couldn't cope with it tearing my face to pieces every day.
I was waiting 20 mins for the bleeding to stop before being able to put on a shirt.

Gillette Fusion. I didn't want to believe the hype but it really is better than the Mach 3 and lasts for ages.

Rave reviews on here but I bought one and could not get on with it, it either does not get close enough or is so close it cuts.

It also does not like it if you have not shaved for a day or two.

Fusion. It's the best. Close shaves, virtually no cuts. 1 day or 5 day stubble. No problems for me, I love it.

You really can't beat the Mach 3 IMO. Although I quite liked the King Of Shaves razor.

a good single blade razor, A good brush and good soap is what you need.

Are you talking about the Merkur?

Having only ever used the multi blade razors I'm a bit wary of these single blade jobs, will I cut myself to shreds?

I got one of those as a promotional freebie and whilst I thought the design and idea was good, the razor wasn't. I'd imagine they retail for a fair bit.

I could do with a new one. Currently using a Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium thing but I really am not impressed. I don’t have much facial growth (good or bad genes, you decide!) but I find I have to constantly shave ‘up the way’ to get it silky smooth and I usually end up nicking myself which is very annoying. Are there razors which will get silky close shaving ‘down the way’ ?

Does not matter what you get so long as you use L'occitane shaving cream its the dogs.
