I'm looking at upgrading the front calipers to 4 pot units on the Taz Racer (2.8 FHC). At the moment the original 2 pot units are fitted.

Can anybody recommend suitable calipers and discs to fit into 15" compomotive rims. I was thinking about finding some Princess calipers but these seem to be as common as hens teeth and very expensive when available.

Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Have a hi-spec set 300mm 4-pot setup running the original 15" wheels. Happy with it (value for money, and very good as in no fading during trackdays) and had no issues to install the set or running the standard rims. Seems that some on here are not in favour of this, but I am. A search will bring up more information.

Hi Dave

I fitted some 4 pot clipers from a guy called Keri who was selling them on Ebay
He has them manufactured under the name Motorworks and they were originally for Ford Capris IIRC

I think they were £360 for vented disks, 4 pot calipers, pads and braided hoses
and worked really well on my old Brown 350i
Originally had a problem with them squealing at low speeds but eventually sorted
satisfactorily by just trying different pads

This is his email from a couple of years ago if you want to give him a try
keri@keri.co.uk

Hope that helps

Cheers
Richard

Depends on your budget but may be worth fitting AP 4 pots and 303mm disc's they just fit under 15" compo's

They was the same as fitted to the original tuscans. I have them fitted to my RC and I think 1 or 2 other Tas Racers have them also. cost for disc's bells and callipers are going to be over 1k though.

Hi Dave, following on from Trickie Dickies thread, have a look at this http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

There is a link to Keri and his WMS brakes too.

Had them on mine for over a year and they have proved to be a substantial upgrade over the originals

Hi Tony, How ya doing matey!

I'm corresponding with Keri at the moment to see what he can come up with.

As for Anglesey, I shudder every time I think of the bloody place hehe I'm not planning any mishaps this year so you can leave the saw at home wink Although I might take mine along just in case smash

I have them on my 3000M Leigh (15" compos) - they give excellent stoppping power, probably more than I need in the light M.

JR has some sets available I belive and he should be able to do them for less than 1K. I paid 750 for mine (not form John) all refurbed, but then there was machining and adaptors to make so not short of what you suggest all done.

O/T,
How's the car coming on - are you out this year?

The car's been on hold, as need to sort out a lot of Real Life stuff.
But its 95% finished anyway.

so should be there for the 1st race. plus hope to do the full season.
currently depends on my Job, and if I have any money.
