My car needs a front end respray so while looking into this I thought I'd look at a complete respray in a new colour.

Has anyone any experience of having a complete respray into one of those flip two tone colours.

How much does it cost, who do you recommend and how long does it take. I want to change my Iced Titanium into a blue / purple flip colour.

Thanks apguy very informative, although twice the price I was guessing at. Shame you are so far away otherwise I'd be calling in to chat more.

Thanks for that, lots of good prep work there. I was thinking about doing it my self once the garage is rebuilt to fit the Cerb properly, but they were enough to put me off the idea for a good while longer!

To be fair, I did go overboard. I even had the air intake boxes colour coded in reflex purple smile

The paint was outrageously expensive even at trade prices, and we also did it in the way that the factory never did - ie we put a matt black base coat on first. This is how PPG specify it. I also went the whole hog, which included the removal of all bonded in lights, windscreen, engine bay heat shields, etc etc. There is not one trace of the original colour anywhere on the car.

Now, even more so than in 2007, the cost of a colour change on a Cerbera is not economically viable if you consider it as a proportion of its value. But I did it for different reasons. 1) I wanted a reflex Cerbera and 2) Its a mobile advert for my firm 2)

As I indicated at the time, a colour-change in a non-reflex/cascade paint would be substantially cheaper and equally a respray in the same colour cheaper still (as you wouldn't have to worry about engine bay area for example).

Although it was done by the previous owner I have a bill for a complete respray in green/purple "Paradise Kameleon" paint for a bit over £6500. This was also a complete job with interior strip and screens out over a black undercoat - although the airboxes stayed black the entire engine compartment was done including under the clutch master cover.

Unfortunately they werent as carefull with the interior as with the paint and I have subsequently done a full retrim.

I rather flew in the face of percieved wisdom on the forum which says to find a car that is mechanicaly sorted and then hope its a colour you like. My view was that while I can wield spanners and do almost any mechanical/interior refurbishment on a car myself I wouldn't ever justify spending that sort of money changing the colour. So I went for the colour that I wanted on the basis that I could spread the cost of sorting it mechanicaly over a longer period. Seems to have been the right choice as I now have a well sorted car in the right colour biggrin
