removing steering wheel controls
Discussion
i know you can get a pac connector but im guessing thats only for specific units? so working on the basis that when i upgrade for a double din with nav i will have to ditch the steering wheel controls so are they easy to remove as they will just wind me up being there and not useable!

You can still use the factory controls with a lot of aftermarket units, some directly and some with adapters/interfaces like the PAC units - depends on the unit you are fitting. I have a CarPC based system in my car and have a PAC SWI-X infra-red unit operated by the steering wheel controls - works fine. Much better to use the original stuff than to remove them and use some ugly 'strap-on' types or fumble around trying to use one of those credit card sized remote thingys.
Have a look here to see what might be available for your setup
