Giving Blood & Alcohol Consumption - Dodgy?

The Blood Wagon (collecting not dispensing) is visiting my workplace in a couple of weeks, on one it’s regular visits. I’ve never done this before, but feel like I should do my bit and give them an armful.

However, later that day I’ve got to be an evening social event, which is an annual thing that inevitably turns into a piss-up (black tie, early hours job). The event is work related and I’m entertaining, so I can’t really duck out.

I know that you can feel a bit dodgy after giving blood, so should I do this if I’m going to be drinking vast quantities of alcohol later in the day (say 8 hours afterwards)?

Do it - we used to do this as students. The impression we got was that we got hammered cheaper. Less blood to fill with alcohol you see....

Could be an urban legend though as we just assumed we were getting drunker and acted correspondingly dafter.

No need to worrie

Give the blood, takes 10mins avg. (depends on how long it takes people to fill the bag.)

Then you get a drink of fruit juice and a biscuit. Then you can just get get pissed as much as you want.

Conversely, what's the deal with giving blood with a hangover ?

Obviously not something to do out of choice, but I declined once when they came to work because (a) I felt crap and (b) I was concerned about the alcohol that was clearly still in my blood.

Used to do the same made for cheap drinking.
