My car is in to JNM for its 4yr/24k service, even though its only done 13k but i'm not convinced by £880 plus £400 for (broken) parts they've found and another £200 for labour, does this not seem a bit much?

Also quoted for an advisory floor clean up, near as makes no difference £800 to remove the two front floor sections and clean up the chassis, then fit new floors and seal it all up, also another £130 to respray the chassis blah blah.

Its rediculous how much these things seem to cost at service time!

No!!! Its ridiculous how much some of these scheisters think they can charge for trivial often unnecessary tasks, they prey on people who are for whatever reason unable to carry out the task themselves.

I know it’s a pain but if it’s more than 100 quid get quotes from other people.

A couple of weeks ago I had the annual service done at Kerridges, and the two floor sections removed and re-sealed/riveted. They also replaced ball joints in order to get through MOT, that was about £200. Total cost of everything was £1,420. Seems a better price than what you've been quoted if comparing apples with apples, but I didn't have a "chassis clean" AFAIK.
Was a little surprise about the ball joints as one had been replace a couple of years ago for the same reason (cracking) again for the MOT, and i don't do high mileage. However, I trust Kerridges implicitly so I don't consider I've been overcharged.

same here. had 2 floor panels replaced by kerridges and resealed. cost about 350-400 quid ish.

total bill was 1850 with all the other stuff they did.

unlike others i am not particularly happy with the work or service but it is what it is.

i can confirm the car does not leak any more, the problems i have had are with the other things they fixed (or didn't!)

Why do you need to remove and re-seal the floor ?? is it bolted or rivited in place ??

Rivets (lots of them) which over time corrode and begin to leak.
Some on here have drilled them all out, cleaned and waxoyld the chassis and then replaced the floor using stainless screws.
Not a difficult job, just time consuming and you obviously need access to a lift or a pit which for most, including me, is the real problem.

This IMHO is the biggest let down with the car. I had my car serviced earlier this year. Got quoted around the £680 mark. When i eventually got it back got a bill for about £1300 quid. When i got car back i found a knife in the passenger's fusebox area which hadn't been tightened properly. Then to make matters worse they hadn't tied down my brake leads which were rubbing against back wheel which could have been dangerous. I'd rather have gone to my local mechanic who i know i could trust and give him half the money for a better job.

Nexttime i go i will make sure its simply a service and NOTHING ELSE. Get the stamp and let someone i know look after the car.

I'm afraid it's the norm with some dealer's and so called specialists,
My M400 My 12K service cost £1600+ with some extra work namely change all fluids inc p/steering, brakes, coolant etc, plus an adjustment to a window and two new bulb holders.
Then the front turbo hose blows off after just 50 miles!
And there was an oil leak from the oil temperature sender for which they charged £37.50 to tighten up!
They weren't just greedy they're also incompetent.

Bought my car from Kerridges but dont use them for servicing. Have found someone much better.

Their costs are expensive I think.

I always use the boys at Brunters. They are fantastic value and do brilliant work. Never had any problems and never paid anywhere near what I was quoted else where.

I've always had first class service for Chris Neal's in Northwich. I've been taking my chariots to them for at least 10 years and have never had any complaints, far from it I'd say.

For the few of us in the south west I can recommend South West Lotus Centre. They are a small family firm, the service is spot on. As you can guess their main line is lotus, but will give the same quality of service to any make. It may pay for you guys and girls from the big smoke to price up your next service-the savings you make could pay for a nice weekend to Devon, car service and minds refreshed!!!lol
