Not far from everywhere really. Albert Dock is v posh, Matthew St with the Cavern etc. Then to Concert Square for nubile young girls.Centre of Liverpool is nice, just unfortunate that the main routes in go through some s

Nice little pub in a quirky setting is the old prison/cop shop thats been converted...think its called the Bridewell? walking distance from the newly opened shopping centersaussiebruce said:

The restaurant in The Malmaison itself is ok. Other than that you may consider heading to Hope Street (by car) as there are a handful of restaurants round there, catering for all budgets - The London Carriage Works (£££) 60 Hope St (££) and Ego. Hope Street is a nice area with a cathedral at each end, but I'm not sure if either will be open if you get there in the evening.A couple of other options are The Albert Dock (as stated) and/or Liverpool ONE. Tonnes of parking available, and quite a few restaurants there too - there's a cinema too if you're supremely bored.
Malmaison restaurant is great although just across The Strand (the main 6 lane route through the city) from the hotel is a great bar / rest called Panoramic - go for a drink at least as it had great views around the city and you can get your bearings. It is on the 34th if I recall. In a tower called 'West Tower'.
Shopping - the new Liverpool ONE and Met Quarter are the two main shoping centres. A new Odeon here with a VIP bar which also has amazing views out across the city.
For the cultural side there is the Liverpool Tate in the Albert Dock and the museums up close to Lime Street station.
Just opposite the museums (across the park) is a good boozer called Doctor Duncans - only serves Liverpool brewed ales. On St Johns Lane.
The ferry is a good 30 min trip - it goes from in front of the Liver Building (with the Liver Birds on the top).
Jalons Bridewell is the bar / rest in an old prison - near John Lewis in Liverpool ONE - Campbell Street.
All the pretty people go to Restaurant Bar and Grill on Brunswick Street. Bit of a footie haunt.
It is far safer than people say. I used to worry because of the repuation but have never had an issue.

But hey. Sunday afternoon the OP should GO shopping (up Bold street) or to the Museum of slavery and the TATE. In the Evening he should go to the theatre (or is it still panto season ?) or to china town for a meal.
