As you probably know, the symptoms are the last thing to show up.

I caught mine a bit late. Colostomy, radiation, chemo...

A colonoscope is the way forward. Everybody needs to do it. Believe me, the alterantive is not all that pleasant.

So how do you go about getting one done? I expect if you rocked up to the GP's and said can I have a colonoscope they'd probably call the syc ward !!!!

Lost both my parents to Bowel Cancer so have to get checked out regularly myself even though I am 'only' 29. Not the most pleasant thing in the world and certainly a pain in the arse (and further in to be honest) but infinitely preferable to having cancer itself.

A friend of mine was diagnosed in the late stages of bowel cancer last year. Was rushed into surgery and now has 23cm of small intestine left.
It was touch and go for a while, but he's better now. He was 24 at the time. You can never be too young.

If you go to the Docs for something entirely unrelated they'll ask if there is any history of bowel cancer in your family, if you say yes and regard yourself as quite young but are over 30 they'll refer you, making you feel over 50.

I must get around to booking the appointment.

Smoker, alcohol, meat eater etc? or did you mean human being?
Have a history in my family, my dear old grandfather was positively saintly regarding these but sadly died from bowel cancer.
I have had the unpleasent experience (F.U.B.) at the doctors but this pales into insignificance when I see the checks our good women folk go through.
Sometimes think about what proportion of funding is put towards research into mens cancer as opposed to womens though.

If you told me that last week I wouldn't have thought much of it. However since Monday......I fully agree.....Please people....any doubts....Get checked out.

Feeling embarrassed is always preferable to an early death, even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.

I was in and out of hospital within 2 hours, and "it" was in, done and out within 20 minutes.

Makes you really question what you do in this world. I'm 42


Funnily enough, if you are conscious, its quite interesting to see your rear exit from the inside out.
