Halfords are doing tom tom's with UK and EU maps and traffic updateds for about £127 I think? You can add speed cameras on to them easy enough

100 quid laptop and 50 quid bluetooth receiver off eBay, plus an "obtained" copy of Sygic Drive. Who wouldn't want a 15" GPS unit that can also play films and music?

Interesting. Any features to look for? Do they have lane guidance or whatever it's called at that sort of price?

I've just bought a refurb GO720 from totalpda for £99 and found a new TomTom RDS-TMC receiver on Amazon for £13.50. By then logging on to TomTom Home, using the Latest Maps Guarentee to download any new map versions and the software upgrade to give me IQ routing and Motorway Guidance I've ended up with the same as a Go730T but for well over £100 less!! Go for it......

Shame, however if you don't need one striaght away it's still worth keeping your eye on their site as they often have some good deals on refurb models and if you call them for advise they are excellent. Good luck hunting

I've started the year quite badly with 3 motoring related issues in as many weeks, the latest of which being a Satnav smash and grab by a low life heathen. Firstly if anyone can catch one of the slippery little blighters I'd love the opportunity to have a word. Secondly it means I'm forced into the market for a new one.

I've taken a look at the total PDA site at the refurb models. Is the service any good? Are the refurbs good quality? All I want is unit that has blue tooth, is portable (so I'm not tempted to leave it in the car...Doh!) and I like the idea of being able to connect it to a TMC thingy. So should I get a One or a Go?

Thanks.

Have to say I'm happy with my TomTom OneXL.

My only complaint is that the standard speed camera detection doesn't seem to work very well (either that or it's disabled by default?) But I think if you really want to use that you need to subscribe.

Oh, it also mistakes a few mini-roundabouts and sharp corners for junctions on back roads, but it always gets the direction right.
