I've done a search on this and it seems some of our cars are prone to having this come on for no apparent reason. Mine is one of them. Has anyone got to the bottom of this?
Mine comes on from tine to time and can be cleared by prodding the computer mode button. The car always drives fine through the whole episdoe. When logged no fault codes come up.
Suggestions I've heard so far are maybe a faulty 02 sensor, or perhaps a dodgy plug causing a slight miss once in a while.
I don't think anything serious is going on, but it's certainly annoying.
So has anyone had this and actually fixed it?

Mine does this alot of the time, had it tested and its dodgy O2 sensors but cant be bothered to leave it with a dealer having seen how the herbits at the local garage crawled over it when it went in for testing.

Yeah get it scanned to find out to make sure its nothing major. Like Roger says its usually an O2.
If you are coming to the Ace Ill scan it for you. You can turn off the MIL light on the dash for most/all DTC codes, but sometimes its best to know something is up.
Dodgy cats and relocated O2 sensors can throw codes for various reasons. Usually insufficient/lazy switching due to being too cold. Or with no cats, it will complain about being too rich post cat.

I suspect mine is the latter then as it de-catted. I'd take you up on the scan offer cos the ACE is not so far from me, however, I have childcare issues, so I prolly won't be able to make it. I'm up at Monkfish next week getting some new discs, so I'll see what they reckon when I'm there. Thanks for your help.

The check engine light came on in my Monaro once.
So I opened the bonnet and there the engine was.

Which was nice.

No problem unlimited scans available for free wink

I can also show historical codes in case you had a warning light before and now its gone. You can still see what it was.. unless you reset the ECU by pulling power etc.

Plus I can clear them again for you if you like. Just let me know on the day.

not on the limiter its when the check engine thing comes up sometimes it says reduced engine power and it drives like a VXR8 (very slowly)

Oh sorry, i didnt mean when the cars cold, I meant when hot. I never go over 3000rpm when its cold.
I've seen it on here a few times now. People mentioning they get reduced power if they go over the red line. I've never had that. Was it something on the earlier models?

Happened on my 500 and it was the oxygen sensor. Had it replaced and no more issues except the sensor plug strip's out the female thread as it is removed! The simple fix is to get the old thread tapped out and a helicoil put in. Much cheaper that way!

if i can make it down could you fit my supercharger, download the base tune from the spare ecu, upload the saved parameters to a new custom OS and install a valet mode for me before tweaking the tune to get it just right? All for say 6 bottles of ale? Would ask you to fit the LS7 clutch and the wideband sensor for me and set it up while you're at it but dont want to take too much of your time
