current mobile phones ?

these are what ive been offered free to renew on my measly 12 quid a month contract

anyone know whats good ? i just want to make calls and have good battery life and an alarm clock:

6300 is a fine phone. Standard business phone we hand out. Easy to use, durable, and it looks nice.

If you go for something like a 6300 (can be picked up for £50 on the net) I'd expect a reduction in the line rental.

I went all "money saving" and ditched the contract for a rolling month to month. My 1 year old 6300 is fine and I dont want/need anything fancier. I now pay £15/month rather than the £35/month I used to pay for the same minutes.

You pay for the phone in the contract...

dont got for a 6300... if you want to use voice dialling. I had a nice Sony but it was stolen . My punishment was a 6300. It doesnt do voice tags and is therefore useless to me as I drive a lot and use voice dialling all the time with my headset (see the 6300 forums at nokia.com to to hear all about the problems). If you dont want to do voice dialling then its not a bad phone.

Got a 6500 slide and it has been faultless.

Went through many N series phones before going back to a more 'standard' phone. It's a joy to be able to use the menus quickly again, I just found the N series phones a bit too slow.

shame the sony phones tend to have small difficult keys

I always wanted something that integrated with Outlook, so I didn't have to maintain 2 separate contacts lists. I therefore opted for a Windows phone.

God almighty, 3 or 4 years of utter ste, 3 different Windows phones and finally I discover that the new Nokias do Outlook integration so I've recently changed for a 6500 classic which is excellent.

Personally I would prefer the case of the 6300 (easier for a bloke to pick up) but that wasn't available on contract with O2, so I went for the 6500 and I'm very pleased with it.

Had a Samsung U600 whic was ok, now just got a K660i from 3, £9 per month 100 min/texts.

Its got Google maps with location finder and loads of other things I haven't found yet.

A bit more tactile than the U600 and a great quality screen.

Yes but previous attempts placed each phone number for a single contact as a separate contact. I'm not saying the 6500 is the first to get it right, but at the time I gave up with Nokia integration they certainly hadn't.

Wish someone had told me sooner!... Doesnt seem to like Thursdays for some reason. There I was, lay in bed, wide awake, feeling like I've had the best nights sleep in the world waiting for the sound of the alarm... only to realise its 9:30!

There is a software update for it, or setting two alarms for almost the same time might work.

Yep the menus are quick and intuitive. There were only a few things that took a little looking for but on the whole everything is where you would expect it.

The only slight downside is that I have found the battery life to be a bit poor but I do have bluetooth on all the time for the car kit. At the end of the day if you have to charge it nightly then I can't really see the problem.

Fair point - all you have to do is turn off the SIM memory usage in the phone, and that problem will never blight you again. I've had multiple numbers syncing over since that 7110. But it took me ages to suss it out

Just got a W890 after a string of Sony's. Best one i've owned yet. Keys are a touch small but not a problem. Nice feel to it,very thin phone and came with a free 2gb memory card which i can drag and drop music and video's onto from my laptop.
Best thing about it is the walkman player which sounds fantastic, really impressed with that. Camera is 3.2mp which is ok but no flash but i've got a compact for that.
Really suits my needs. Highly recommended.
