He's ever so poorly and might not survive

Hoping to resurrect him but the damage under the bonnet is extensive and cost could be prohibitive if so he could become an organ donor........... watch this spce for news.

(I note the GRP reg: quite appropriate) - it does look to be a real mess and with the current price of S's it may not be worth the effort - what a pity if another one dies!

Oh yeah exactly what I was thinking! Just need a new bonnet. Damnit so many TVRs are being written off at the moment it's HORRENDOUS! 2 S's, 4 Chim's and 2 Tuscans lately.

Hi Roy

Interested as to why you think its a S1.5

I have been told a ‘backfire’ can splash petrol into filter (certainly on M series cars) bang and up she goes. If you look at the burnt area of the bonnet it certainly seems to follow the line of the air intake hose from the AFMs up to the plenum

Never mind that... what caused the fire ? hehe

Wow Norman thats some project you have there, but at least you have Gerald so you can drive and rebuild at the same time. Hopefully the heat didnt do too much serious damage to Chassis and the tub... engines are available so no prob there...

In a way I'm envious.

good luck and keep the pictures coming...

K wink

looks like an S 1.5 , Early wheels and mirrors but most importantly short doors point to S1 body style . 2.9 lump = S 1.5
Although i was recently wrong about the S 4 bonnet so not the oracle on the subject i thought i was wink

Nearly right, Dale. Wolfrace-style early wheels & no silver strip on bumper. Mirrors & shorter doors are common to S1 & S2. Basically, an S1 with a 2.9 in it.

Same colour as my S2, but with, er, a few modifications!

I believe Gerald is a S2 and has/had the same wheels (OZ Slots) and rabbit ear mirrors but has the silver strip on the bumpers and that I think is the only obvious difference except most S1s had manual windows and most S2s had electric. The only significant diference would be the trailing arms. Geralds V5 shows it registered as a 280 S which would normally indicate an S1 but as he was built in March 1990 that would make him an S2. Argggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... I give up BUT who cares anyway they are such fun to drive and now (or hopefully soon) I will have one for each foot
