Have any PHers got married abroad?

As the title states really; I am considering not falling in to the trap of being fleeced for at least £15k over here and taking my o/h abroad with our families to tie the knot.
I don't want anything remotely tacky, just ideas on destination and format really.
Although I may wear my Elvis suit and go to Vegas!

Had a registry office wedding over here with immediate family from both sides, then had a full on blessing with reception in the Czech Republic six months later (my wife is Czech).
Fraction of the cost it would have been over here, and made a really nice holiday for our Uk guests who came over (and also a lot cheaper for them to go over there than for Czech friends to come over here).
Very glad we did it that way (and it also means I've married the same woman twice!).
Cautionary tale though; a friend got married on Bali, then a few years later when he found out his wife was getting humped by half the village it became a nightmare to actually get divorced.
At one stage it looked like he was going to have to fly back out to Bali to pick up documents as they would not send them to him.
Finally resolved, but a lot of time and effort.

Not worth the hassel. Think of your guests. So, you save £3k and they pay £10k to get and stay there? This is the credit crunch. Support you own.

Actually it was a bloke in a small room, Elvis just pretended to marry us
ETA: actually it was a long way outside Las vegas, i think it was Reno..

I got married in Sri Lanka 10 years ago.
Short flight to the Maldives for the honeymoon.
14 friends and family came to the wedding then we scattered across the Maldives.
When we got back we had a party for the people that couldn't make it to Sri Lanka
Great time for all and not too dear compared to getting hitched in the Uk.

We are booking the Seychelles. Have to be there I think three days before the ceremony but a beach wedding sounds good to me.I don't want anything remotely tacky, just ideas on destination and format really.

Mr Grumpy and I got married in Antigua in 2000. We are not religious and didn't want any fuss. Went with Virgin (how appropriate!) Holidays. Stump up for a sea view room and all inclusive and get a free wedding. Bargain! All we had to do was agree the date and time and buy appropriate outfits. We did have to spend a day at the equivalent of the registrar's office with all the paperwork beforehand, but transport and appointments were all arranged.
Just had a big party when we got back, so no rows about who sits where and what's on the menu. Bliss.

My brother got married in Malcesine (on Lake Garda in Italy). They found someone local to do a lot of the organising, went out there six months in advance to pick locations for the wedding and reception, find hotels that the guests could book etc. The whole thing (their flights and hotels, ceremony on one of the towers of the castle, reception for 40 people and two week honeymoon travelling around Italy) cost them in the region of 9k.
One thing to bear in mind if you do marry overseas is that the people you invite can afford to come.
