I don't know if it's an exclusively British thing but we do seem to have our fair share of eccentrics/ odd-bods. Not the 'local weirdos' detailed in the thread of the same name but people who excel in something they do. And who, perhaps as a result, end up being quite odd. And there are lots of them who fanatically devote there lives to some passion that most of us will never even hear about. I'll open with the legendary fly tier from Sutherland, Megan Boyd (who I remember from my childhood growing up in Brora):
