Random post I know, but it has been puzzling me for a while.

I find myself hitting the backboard when bombing Armatige Shanks Harbour in our new house with toilets of 2005 vintage than I did in my previous house of around 2000 vintage.

Are the crappers getting crapper?

You could try putting your feet on a couple of thick books, change the aim slightly

Could be worse. The house builders could have installed a German designed crapper, where you are obliged to look at the bloody thing before you flush

Can't beat the smell of your own st though can you. Well, apart from the smell of your own farts.

Mine's the same in the house I bought. Should have gone for a carp when I viewed the place. Have to sit well forward if I'm to acurately recreate the Hudson river airbus landing.

However, unlike US airlines, I haven't had a floater for a while.

As long as you are content to have splashback from any urination all over your nads.

Best avoided altogether IMHO

That looks similar to the particularly shallow ones in the Ford Muesum in Detroit. There I was, finding an excuse to read the paper, went for the wipe and ended up with some very unhappy knuckles. It was not nice.

God I hate those German bogs. The 'shelf' is designed to allow the krauts to carefully inspect their droppings for worms as they eat a diet high in pork and apparently are prone to such problems. yuck

My upstairs stter, of 1994 vintage, is more than accommodating to curling a king size Snickers into the drink with a satisfying splash. However the downstairs crapbox, circa 2006, is prone to smearage of a frankly biblical nature. So I would voice my support in direction of the OP's theory.

Now then, the Americans seem to have a significantly better design, with a lower-slung pan and no need for a cistern, with a seemingly limitless supply of high pressure flowage to blast away the remains of last night's excessive beef consumption. Home of the brave indeed.
