PSE on 911 (996) GT3 Mk2 - 2004

As the title says.

Can it be done?

Some specialists say no, some OPC says yes?

Any1 know if it is possible and would it invalidate a 3rd party warranty? I know I would haveto call them, but a genuine Porsche part?

IIRC...It is something to do with the mountings and bits that switch the noise on and off that causes the problems...

Can be done, not officially 'approved' but mainly because of type approval in Germany. The boxes fit - have installed my fair share on mk1's and 2's. The switching side is trickier to fit as the vacuum pick-up is harder to fit on the aluminium manifold when compared to the plastic and rubber items on the other cars. Awesome sound though, do it!!

I posted a similar topic over on 911uk before xmas - as the guys above say, it can be done. I did hear that a GT3 "owned" by somebody working for Porsche in the UK had it fitted to his company hack.

PolarExpress also had one fitted to his Mk1 before going for the k400 Mathey setup. He had dyno plots done (again, they're posted on the thread on t'other site) showing no loss of hp either.

If you have no need for the switch, then Oettle (sp?) on eBay sell some hard-modified 3.4/3.6 silencers, replicating the bypass that PSE gives you. I've also just had some spare silencers modified by my local welder to try out on my Mk2. Still undecided whether to sell-on the cans immediately and take the plunge for Cargraphics or install them and see how I get on.

If you're interested, and don't want the switch, then I could be persuaded to part with them straight away for less than the Oettle items (iirc, £380 plus £45 shipping to the UK from Germany)

Interestingly my 996 GT3 has something like this fitted - with the standard button in the cabin. It sounds very different to a standard GT3.

It appears it's not possible for order the car like this but I have no idea when or what was fitted to enable it, and neither do the previous owners I could speak to...

I wonder If I have the "company hack" you refer to?

i recently viewed a 996.2 GT3 CS with a PSE fitted. When i spoke to a former owner of the car his recollection was that a previous keeper had it retro fitted (2006? ish) for about £1800
