Hello - Writing from the States here... Midwest to be exact where the weather has been 30+ BELOW zero for over a week! This has made me weak, and I'm looking at an ad for a Urraco needing reportedly "only" a clutch. Any idea as to what such a repair would put me back.

Thanks and Cheers!

Aaron

I'm not sure about the cost of the parts, but at the very least it will be an engine out job.

Great cars though thumbup P250(s) or P300?

...same 'advice' to you as to Barry the other year...

When you are actually able to leave the warmth of your home and when you do and the ice doesn't form on your nose as you breathe yikes...

Go take a look at the car, if you can. If you don't instantly feel an unstoppable urge to have the car at any price, then walk away.

Whatever the suggestion of 'only needs a...' may really be, cost-wise, it will need quite a lot more work and expenditure - it's a 1970's Italian car in a cold/hot/dry/damp climate, so it may well need a small fortune spending on it, one way or another!!

Other than that, should you buy the car, you will have a Lamborghini and there are some things that no amount of good sense, caution, pragmatism and prudence can stand in the way of.

I really appreciate all the feedback, and I read with interest the story of your "re-spray"... Looked to be FAR beyond just that, but MY the results! Lovely!

I've been a Lambo fan since about the age of 5 (the same time the Urraco in question was made!), and have always dreamed of owning one. Granted I always thought more Miura or P400, but it seems dreams are easier to reach than fantasies! I started learning about the Urraco, and it has grown on me. As an owner of Lotuses in the past, and a Ginetta now I understand the attention intense nature of such love affairs, but I've always done the research to go into it as wide opened eyes as possible. I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination and thus need to be careful. With that in mind, what are the guaranteed problem areas of Urraco ownership (other than the crowds it draws and the potential for rust)?

Again - much appreciated!

Cheers,

Aaron

for the life o' me... I can barely recall seeing ANY Urraco with much of a rust problem... usually more a bunch of problems to do with basic, long-term neglect - they may be the 'baby' of the Lamborghini family but they are still supercars!!

Have you any pictures of the car Aaron? We could all make a judgement here in the UK based on a few grainy pixels and the slight suggestion of a colour and the cars interior standard... well, actually we couldn't really but it would be nice to see the pix at least - even if it was just a link to the sellers website/advert?????

Have you checked to see if the car is registered with the International Lamborghini Registry at www.lamborghiniregistry.com - you may find out a lot of useful stuff about the car you've seen (comrades - see... I've resisted the temptation to type 'your car' - well, for a while at least!) and plenty else about Urracos and older Lamborghini cars in general.

Well... here's the first one that caught my eye:

But they just added this one as well...

The pictures and vintage MAKE the '72 sound like a better bargain, but serious warning bells are going off. I have to image the clutch job and the '75 will near or exceed the price difference. Thoughts?

Thanks!

there are a couple of points with the red car from my point of view...

The engines cover and side louvres should (certainly/probably) be black...

BUT the chrome bumpers are by far the best for any Urraco - much sweeter looking than the big slabs of rubber of the brown-ish car.

At UK£ to US$ rates at the moment, (not that its of any concern of yours of course) that's about £15,000 for the car - your next few hundred might be spent on a good service and getting it back to Minnesota and a few (dozen) gallons or premium fuel and lead replacement additive or else, a trailer to tow it home...

Red car doesn't look too bad to me, not too sure about the brown-ish car tho' - I see some rust flecks at the hinge of the engine cover... yikes

... but, what do I know??

They are fairly standard parts, as far as I know... probably from a in-period Fiat plus, the mounting bolts are there at least - always a good starting point, I guess...

I Go for the red urraco it looks a better car than the brown one and i just happen to have a set of urraco wiper arm's if you need them.

The thing's to look for on a urraco is rust, Oil leak's, check the dipstick to see if any water has mix with the oil, and really that everything is with the car E.G. spare wheel stuff like that.

Good luck and welcome to the darkside

You just like the red car 'cos it's got the same seat padding as yours has Leslie!!!

It looks the best of the two, almost certainly... apart from the red louvres...

but, as mentioned, chrome bumpers... cloud9

bit too soon with the dark side welcome Leslie: Aaron hasn't actually bought his Urraco. Not yet anyhow...smile

Not certain if it's time to start another thread or not, but I got SOME more information on the 2 Urracos I'm potentially interested in...

The '75 shows 17,128 on the odometer and has a serial # of 20236. Dealer claims "Body is excellent. Paint is good." This is the one that needs a clutch.

The '72 shows 43,068 miles and has serial # 11133 (?), engine # 15210. I've received no other details yet other than the following pictures...

Any thoughts you may have would be welcomed.

Oh - I also noticed that the '75 has the "traditional" Italian Shift gate whereas the '72 has a boot covered one. Is this normal? If so, I'm surprised it's not reversed in the years.

Cheers,

Aaron

can't make any of those links work... even with my (admittedly very new, so not perhaps working right) Google mail account.

I'd still vote for the red car of the two, if I had only those to choose from...

Which, really speaking, you don't - there are more, possibly even closer to you than Albany, possibly not...

YOUR Lamborghini knows you are looking for it, even if you haven't actually seen it yet: hippy
