Restaurants and the recession

Apparently we're in recession, so why is it I decide to go out tonight with the Mrs for a bite to eat and can't actually get a table anywhere beacuase they are fully booked?
I thought there was a credit crunch and a recession. According to to Daily Mail, nobody can afford to go out.
So how the hell is everyone eating out on a Friday night?????!!!

No idea but my next door neighbours chain of restaurants is going well, with only the mid week suffering, which in my area of the country isn't saying much. He's even looking at 2 more cities to open in and then sell the lot as a going concern. Mind you he does work about 15 hours a day 6 days a week, so he certainly puts the time inI thought there was a credit crunch and a recession. According to to Daily Mail, nobody can afford to go out.

My local Chinese restaurant is one of the most exclusive (and expensive) around, and is always heaving - fully booked, etc, etc .... Myself and the family Kinky decide to go out for a curry tonight, a few doors down from said Chinese.
The Chinese was almost empty. I don't recall ever seeing it so empty - we were both so astonished. And the Indian we went to was packed!
So I'd say that folks are going out - but just not flashing as much cash as they used to - based on what I've seen tonight.

The Chinese was almost empty. I don't recall ever seeing it so empty - we were both so astonished. And the Indian we went to was packed!
So I'd say that folks are going out - but just not flashing as much cash as they used to - based on what I've seen tonight.
