Outside door release button

Having just filled up with petrol this morning, I went to get back into my GTS and the driver's side door release button was jammed (seemed to be stuck in the "pushed in" position), and wouldn't release the door.

Fortunately I was able to get into the passenger side, reach across, and open the door with the inside door release.

When I got home, a bit of very unscientific fiddling has got the door release button working again. Is this a recognised problem at all, and if so does anyone have a remedy to stop it from recurring?

the drivers door on my last car jamed on the odd occasion ,just fiddled with it
and gave it a squirt of wd and it would be fine for ages , not alot of help there sorry!!
