Wet Boot

The car has spent the week outside (garage full, now empty)
the boot is wet in each bottom corner,
Have others had this problem and if so where was the water coming from?

Barry, mine leaked in a few places so suggest you check & seal with silicone the following


1)Grommets on cable that runs between the boot lid & body of the car on the RHS I guess this is for the brake light.

2)top light/indicator clusters, get the missus vanity mirror and have a look at how well the lights were bonded to the body, mine had big gaps in several places on both sides

3)Drain holes on either side of the boot (look down them and you can see the road). Where the two halves of the body meet in the middle there is probably a gap. It might be easier to sleeve the drain hole and seal it at the top as it’s a right pig to get your fingers down the holes!

It could also be the seal on the boot lid, I powdered the seal with corn flour (on pain of death was I told by Lisa not to use her talcum powder) wait for it to rain and check for drips.

Strategic placement of kitchen role UNDER the carpet may also point to where the leak is coming from eg if the top of the carpet is not wet but the kitchen roll is then its unlikely to be the boot seal.


I fixed my boot leak & now its gets wet behind the passenger seat a bit, I suspect the door seal where it meets the edge of the Targa panel is the culprit now

Barry, yes mine also leaks occaisionally. I say occaisionally because its not out in the rain very often.
Shep, good advice, might have a look at those myself.

this was the cause of my leaks in the wet, very poor joining of the twoparts.

but any of the ones suggested could be the cause

Mine was leaking into the boot through the two small rear side windows. When I pushed them from the inside they were both loose towards the rear. I reapplied a liberal amount of clear silicone and have not had a problem since......

Try the boot badge, my Tam leaked through the 2 bolt holes, stuck some sealer on the inside was ok after that.
