Think its 20 now. It started off low, and then progressively increased as people stacked them and insurance companies realised how expensive repairs can be.

Who cares ?

Go and buy one and worry about it afterwards

Whatever it costs, the first few drives on a dry road will justify the cost. Ask the owners.

You should phone for a quote though as there is a big difference then between 20 and 20.

I have just bought an Elise (Group 20) and traded a Honda S2000 (Group 20) for it. My insurance has gone from 900 odd to 500 or so and that is exactly the same mileage and conditions and excess'.

20 just means they go look ot up on a per car basis. A murcielago is also group 20 and will clearly cost more to insure than an Elise.

I think its classed as a group 17 car at least me 02 plate s2 elise sports tourer was. Just make sure you shop around. I had quotes ranging from £1000(acceptable)to a truelly farcical £9000. Im not sure if i can mention the insurance company im with for promotion reasons but if i was to say give a company that rymes with Maiden Plucks a bell they should see you right.
Ps is it ok to mention companies on here??? Or is it blatent whore advertising???

Dont know what the rules are, but if it saves me money, then I'm all for it.
In your case just suggest the company you have your insurance with, rather than saying you work for "X" Company and they are good

Yeah Adrian Flux are OK when you're in the "brand new customers only" part of the relationship but when it comes to renewal you can expect your premiums to go in one direction only.... the wrong one.

And don't expect much help from them if you have an accident. Bl--dy useless.

There are better, cheaper, friendlier companies out there all of which will give you similar discounts for SELOC membership, Walshy days etc. and many who will throw in a few trackdays for free too.

I recently got a quote for a 'standard' 120 bhp S2 elise and a S2 111S of same age and value. Wierdly the 111s was £30 cheaper even though they are often quoted a couple of points higher on the scale! As has been mentioned, just phone up and get a quote (or use those online thingies) I have a reasonably bad driving history and was pleasantly surprised to get quotes slightly over the 1k mark

S1 Elise is 17
S1 Elise 111s 18
S1 sports 135, 160 are 20
S2 elise all 20

I know because Im 24 I had to be very carefull about which one I went for as the insurance would be a killer for anything other than an S1 118bhp. I found Tesco to be cheapest but you do need a tracker.

Hope this helps

Nick
