Are they any good, got a leaflet in todays Observer saying I can buy 2 pairs for £60 saving £140. Are they any good or will they just quickly turn into tat?

They are OK for the money, but don't expect flawless construction. If you have 2 pairs and alternate and keep them on trees etc they'll be OK. In fairness mine do a lot in the car, not sure what they'd be like if you had a commute round London each day.

Mine came up quite small so order a bit bigger than usual.

Fortunately, my mates don't pass negative judgements on me because of my choice of shoe, and my clients couldn't care less what I wore on my feet so long as they look reasonable. I use SW shoes for work, I find them smart enough snd cheap enough, 2 pairs last a year, they're fine.

They are OK for dossing around in shoes, instead of trainers. But at £30 a pair, they are only just worth it. They are also very inconsistent in terms of quality, one pair might be fine, whilst another will be utter garbage and you would begrudge paying a tenner for. The soles are the nastiest cheapest aspect of them too, whilst sometimes the uppers can be surprisingly good.

Having said that, the real thing from a proper marque is £100 - £300 a pair, so what do you expect? Look at them as 'fake' in the same way you might do a knock off wrist watch.

I dont give a toss what anyone else thinks or says about my appearance, I just have a personal taste for slightly more upmarket shoes.. wouldnt judge anyone else on their choices.

They seem a bit like those adverts for Klaus Von Zeitgeist watches you see in the Sundays - always on sale with 50% off with a "normal" price that nobody would ever pay and that I'd expect nobody ever has paid.

I think the thing to do is not compare or confuse them with proper shoes which is what their marketing is trying to do. If you look at them as an equally cheap alternative to the plastic vinyl things made in China that you get at Bacons, they are fine.

I don't think I'd bother, if I'm right this "offer" is as common as a DFS sale

Fair enough. The thing is to treat them for what they are (a 30 quid pair of cheap shoes) rather than what they would have you believe they are (hand-crafted masterpieces). I see not point spending money on stuff I only wear to the office, and they a rebetter than the usual nonsense you get for that price. But agreed, Loakes/Churches/Crockett and Jones have nothing to worry about
